You can send and receive mails with Mind Express 4. If you want to connect an existing mailbox, it’s important to know that Mind Express 4 only supports the POP protocol. This protocol removes e-mail from the mail server once it has been downloaded to Mind Express 4. This means the email is no longer available on other devices.
However, some mailboxes offer the possibility to leave a copy on the mail server. This is the case for Gmail, for example. This option is enabled by default in the e-mail settings. We, therefore, recommend Gmail.
If you want to continue using your existing mailbox from another mail server, we recommend forwarding all e-mails to your new Gmail account (via the mail server settings). This way, you can use Gmail in combination with Mind Express 4 and have a copy of all existing emails in your Gmail account.
Gmail POP
Step 1. In Mind Express 4 go to “Tools” > “E-mail” > “Server settings” and choose “Server details” > “Configuration” gmail.
Login name is always your email address.
Step 2. Surf to your Gmail inbox in your browser (not in Mind Express) and go to “Settings” at the top right.
Step 3. Click on the button “See all settings”.
Step 4. Go to “Forwarding and POP/IMAP”.
At “POP download” you have 2 choices:
- By choosing “Enable POP for all mail”, all old e-mails are also imported, which can make downloading very long.
- By choosing “Enable POP for mails that arrives from now on”, the old e-mails are not imported and therefore there is no download time.
Choose the option you want.
Step 5. Browse to https://myaccount.google.com/security.
Scroll down until you reach “Signing in to Google”. Disable “Use your phone to sign in” and “2-Step Verification”.
Step 6. Scroll further down until you see “Less secure app access”.
Enable “Allow less secure apps”.
Now you can receive and send e-mails via Mind Express with your Gmail account.
Hotmail POP
Step 1. In Mind Express 4, go to “Tools” > “E-mail” > “Server settings” and choose “Server details” > “Configuration” Hotmail.
Login name is always your email address.
Step 2. Surf to your Hotmail inbox in your browser (not in Mind Express) and go to the cog icon at the top right for settings.
Step 3. Click on “View all Outlook settings” (see image above).
Step 4. Go to “Sync email” and under “POP options”:
- Enable “Let devices and apps use POP”.
- Enable”Don’t allow devices and apps to delete messages from Outlook. It will move the messages to a special POP folder instead.”
Now you can receive and send e-mails via Mind Express with your Hotmail account.
